What is Political Science?

We will be soon migrating to a new blog due to technical reasons... Click Here to find our updated blog

Political Science can be considered as a scientific approach to politics and government.

Aristotle, Plato, Cicero, Polybius, Aquinas, and many others have proposed categorization and differentiation of various political activities functions, etc. These were mainly proposed for various elections of magistrates, councilmen, etc.

From here there were many improvements including many more subjects like political sociology and psychology and many more thereafter.

Where does political science scholars come to play?

We know that none of the politicians have studied political science academically and most of these are based on the ideologies of the corresponding ruling parties.

As a majority of the rulers or elected representatives have no idea about international policies and international relations, these scholars are required to make policy decisions at least in some of the fields. During the formal undergraduate and postgraduate studies on political science, these scholars gain major insights into international politics, policymaking, international relations as well as national politics. In most places, people with political science degrees are involved in policymaking and other clerical jobs rather than in active politics.

These are not limited to government and ruling or policymaking.

Political Science Projects as skill development practice

Say, we need to make some serious marketing decisions on international export and import scenario. Making some products and selling them in the international market is simple. Without knowing the political map, this cannot be done at all... Exploring markets and trade treaties, how the political situations favor the transport and sale of these goods in different parts of the world require in-depth knowledge. The investment decisions can tip to either side.

A similar dependency can be observed on a broad spectrum of areas including but not limited to the scenarios such as behavior, culture, strategies, war, economic policies, government, political ideologies, law, diplomacy, diplomatic relations, processes, etc.

There are many intellectual skills to be attained during this study including excellent writing skills, analytical skills, quantitative reasoning, assessment of statistical arguments, and critical thinking.

Selecting a Project topic in political science

As we observed earlier these skill sets are to be put to test and sharpened before you make real-time decisions. The academic projects in the corresponding area will help this a lot.

Selecting a project topic in political science is quite important. Rather than scoring easy marks and essay writing, one should select problems and policies affecting common people. As a matter of influencing the day-to-day life of fellow humans, political science students have a responsibility to set the scene and make their life more comfortable and avail themselves of human rights.
